A Mahamudra Retreat with
Acharya Yogi Lama Gursam

July 10th -13th

Lama Gursam has visited us before; a genuine wise man, he is an intriguing and delightful young Lama. He is a respected master of the art of meditation and a warm, experienced teacher who is quite fluent in English. Spending several months each year in solitary retreat at the sacred Milarepa caves of Lapchi mountain; Lama Gursam also leads students in pilgrimage retreats. He returns to guide us in the study and practice of the Dharma here in the west.

Milarepa Songs and Transmission

The transmission and teachings on the songs of Tibet's famous yogi, Milarepa. These sacred songs have been preserved since the 11th century. They are a direct, fresh expression of the enlightened experience in poetic form and convey blessing and guidance.

Understanding Mahamudra
A Workshop/Retreat in Arlington at the Drikung Meditation Center
Friday, July 11 thru Sunday, July 13

Mahamudra is one of the highest meditation practices. It emphasizes directly experiencing the phenomena of one's own mind and observing the emptiness of those phenomena. This is achieved by meditating directly on the mind itself. Recalling and stabilizing this experience eventually leads to enlightenment. One's innate purity, the true nature of the mind, is revealed.
Lama Gursam will guide us in this rare opportunity to practice three session, silent retreat.

Accommodations and vegetarian meals are included in this weekend workshop. Advanced registration is advised. One may register to attend the entire weekend or by the day. The suggested fee for this workshop: $210.00 for the weekend or $130.00 for the day.

The Drikung Meditation Center, Tibetan Buddhism in the Boston Area

The Drikung Meditation Center is a Tibetan Buddhist meditation center in Arlington, Massachusetts (in the metro Boston area), dedicated to the study and practice of the Buddha’s teachings as preserved in the Drikung Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. We are a Vajrayana Buddhist Center that is a branch of Tibet’s famous Katsel monastery. It is our aspiration to make a Tibetan Buddhist pilgrimage site featuring an “emanation replica” of the famous Jowo Rinpoche statue in Lhasa, Tibet. The U.S. Drikung Jowo Rinpoche, nearly completed, will be the main feature of this pilgrimage site.

We meet on Sundays and Wednesdays for teachings and meditation practice with our resident Lama (teacher) and spiritual director, Lama Sonam. The vajrayana practice Green Tara is a regular practice that we do that anyone can experience. You do not need previous meditation experience to do our practices. We also host a variety of great masters and Rinpoches throughout the year to make their teachings available to the greater Boston community.

We welcome anyone and everyone to come and join us for the Dharma. We are here to serve the community and to bring the happiness and joy of the Buddhist teachings to everyone who is interested.

The Four Immeasurable Wishes of Buddhism
Love: May all mother sentient beings, boundless as the sky, have happiness and the causes of happiness.
Compassion: May they be liberated from suffering and the causes of suffering. Bliss: May they never be separated from the happiness which is free from sorrow. Equanimity: May they rest in equanimity, free from attachment and aversion.
